COMMISSIONED PIECES
COMMISSIONED PIECES
Looking to bring a custom idea to life? I’d love to hear about it.
Commissioning a piece is simple and personal. Just click the button below to head to the contact page.
Â
There, you’ll be able to share your name, email, and a short description of what you have in mind. Whether it’s inspired by one of my existing designs or something completely new, I’ll do my best to bring it to life.
Â
You can also let me know how you prefer to stay in touch—email, Instagram, or text. I personally prefer Instagram, but I’m happy to work with whatever suits you best.
Â
I like to keep clients involved throughout the whole process—not just in the design phase but also while I’m making the piece. I’ll send updates along the way and always welcome your thoughts or adjustments to make sure the final result feels right to you.
A FEW THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND
Changes after approval – Once a project has been greenlighted, any changes to the design might extend the lead time.
Â
Deposit – Projects quoted under $150 (including made-to-order pieces) don’t require a deposit. Projects over $150 will require a 35% deposit before work begins.
Â
Lead time – This starts on the next business day after the project has been confirmed, or after the deposit has been received (if one is required).
Â
Final payment – The remaining balance is due once the piece is completed and ready for pickup or delivery, and should preferably be paid in cash upon pick-up or delivery.
Â
Design rights – All commissioned designs remain part of my creative portfolio and may be offered again as made-to-order items, unless exclusivity is discussed ahead of time.
Â
Cancellations – Deposits are non-refundable once materials have been purchased or work has started. If the project is cancelled before then, I’ll do my best to work something out.
Â
Timber availability – Timber options are subject to availability. If your preferred timber isn’t available, I’ll suggest the closest alternative.
Â
Delivery & Pickup – Pickup is available in Altona. Delivery is available within the Melbourne metropolitan area only. A $15 delivery fee applies.
Â
Shipping – Shipping isn’t offered by default due to high costs. Most of my pieces are not made to be fully disassembled, which means they take up more space and are more expensive to ship. That said, if you’re still interested, I’m happy to offer a shipping quote within Australia only—just reach out and ask. International shipping is not available.
Â
Communication – I may not respond immediately while working in the shop, but I’ll always get back to you as soon as I can—usually within 1–2 business days.
Â
Lead time flexibility – I always aim to meet estimated lead times, but delays can happen (e.g., material supply, weather, tool issues). If that happens, I’ll keep you in the loop.
Â
Timber imperfections and variations – Timber is a natural material, and as such, slight imperfections such as knots, grain variations, or small cracks may be present. These characteristics are part of the natural beauty of the wood and are not considered defects.
Â
It’s also important to note that natural timber may display colour variations, even within the same piece or between pieces of the same species. Achieving a perfectly uniform tone is challenging and often not possible. In some cases, patches, fillers, or other methods may be used to address or enhance these features. This is a standard practice to maintain both the integrity and aesthetic appeal of the piece.
